Requirements for Denominational Endorsement

Please read carefully through the Requirements listed below, along with our By-Laws & Policies before filling out our Membership Application.


MEMBERSHIP

Membership shall be available to all Southern Baptist Evangelists who complete the following steps:

Notify, in writing, the Secretary/Treasurer or designated officer of desire to join this organization.

Complete the Membership Application.

Pay Membership Dues and maintain on-time payment of future annual dues. Membership Dues for the Vocational Evangelist are $150 annually, and $125 for the Bi-Vocational Evangelist, due no later than September 30 of each year.

Be approved by membership at the Annual Business Meeting each June, or by the Executive Committee.

DEFINITION

All Southern Baptist itinerant evangelists who are engaged in a legitimate evangelistic ministry which exists for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, salvation of the lost, and revival of the church shall be eligible for endorsement. Endorsement certifies that an evangelist is a recognized representative of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists. Southern Baptist Evangelists shall be members in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church which is in friendly cooperation and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. REQUIREMENTS

All evangelists seeking Denominational Endorsement and Membership with Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists must be members in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church which is in friendly cooperation and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Those who seek Endorsement and Membership must also complete the following steps:

Complete the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists Membership Application Form.

Sign the “Affirmations of Accountability” based on the Lausanne Covenant for Itinerant Evangelists.

Obtain and provide, along with Membership Applications Parts One and Two, a letter of endorsement from your pastor, and two letters of recommendation from other sources.

Include two current high-quality photographs of yourself with Membership Application Form, along with a copy of your Driver's License or State ID Card, and one other form of identification.

Give consent and sign form for a Background Check Consent (Membership Application Part Two.)

Have participated in an evangelistic training event, such as a conference, retreat, school, or class. We highly recommend the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, offered online through Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Complete interview by a Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists officer, in person or by telephone.

Include a brief, written autobiography which includes your family background, salvation experience, call and commitment to evangelism, and any other significant events marking your walk with the Lord.

Return completed Membership Application Form to our office by email (scanned/attached) or by USPS, along with non-refundable application fee of $175 for Vocational Evangelist, or $150 for Bi-Vocational Evangelist. If accepted, your application fee will be applied to your first year's membership dues. This fee also covers the cost of the background check.
